Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a technique that focuses primarily on the deeper layers of muscles and the fascia. Sometimes this technique involves the therapist using firmer pressure in order to reach these key areas and get them to release, which is why this particular massage is oftentimes recommended for people who are comfortable with a slightly more intense touch. However, deep tissue massage can also refer to gentle yet sustained pressure targeting the myofascial layer. The belief that deep pressure equals pain is a myth; however, the benefits of deep tissue massage are beyond question.

Massage for Abuse/Trauma Survivors

In addition to its benefits to the body, massage can also soothe the spirit. When administered by a trained professional, massage can calm the body's sympathetic nervous system—the one that operates the "fight-or-flight" reflex—and engage the body's parasympathetic nervous system, encouraging relaxation and rest, inducing a calmer mental and emotional state. Massage therapy comes in many forms—Reiki, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Shiatsu, etc. While the techniques vary, the holistic healing goal is a shared one.

Hemp Oil Massage

Hemp oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent that protects and repairs skin cells, goes deep into soft tissue, relieves stress and pain, and dramatically adds to a peaceful-calm state of mind.    Hemp oil doesn’t cause any kind of “high” but without a doubt you will notice a big difference in how you feel and how your body reacts positively in comparison to other common massage oils.

The hot stones also expand blood vessels, which encourages blood flow throughout the body.
